I picked up a new bread option by Ener-G Foods, a gluten-free food company based in Seattle. I bought the ‘Seattle brown hamburger buns’, which looked really good. I had picked up some roast beef and made a sandwich with lettuce, onion, tomato, Swiss cheese, and Amy’s gluten-free horseradish mustard - it was amazing! It was, in fact, the best sandwich I’ve had since I’ve been diagnosed with Celiac.
In the afternoon, I went out on the deck to water the plants in the wine barrels. It was really hot by the afternoon. I was the last to leave work, as I have a lot on my plate right now. On way home I went to Washington Square Mall and headed for Macy’s. I picked out two cute, age-appropriate bathing suits. It’s not that I won’t flaunt my stuff in a bikini anymore, I just don’t feel comfortable trying to look like a 25 year old in an itsy bitsy teeny weeny string bikini. So, I found two cute suits that looked really awesome on my figure. What’s often a nightmarish experience of body image issues every woman knows too well, this was actually fun and ego-building.
It also helped that I have been working out a lot harder lately. I felt like I just coasted through spring, not taking my workouts to a level of intensity that would seriously push me. I have since made a mental commitment to work myself harder. Yoga has been a key element of my getting my butt back in shape summer plan.
When I finished paying for my new swim suits, I headed over to the Origins shop within Macy’s. I picked Salt Suds body wash, which was basically liquid therapy, a body scrub, a bronzer for my face, and a micro-derm abrasion scrub that the sales girl promised would change my life. I actually trusted this girl because she was very knowledgeable about the products and many of the Origins products have already changed my life.
When I got home, it was already after nine o’clock. I made myself another vegetarian taco salad. It was hot, but as the sun was going down, I saw the most amazing sunset. The sky was all dramatic with pinks, nectarine and violet. Skies like this are worth the heat.
