Saturday, May 31

The annual Portland Rose Festival commenced this evening – I stayed out of Portland.  The parade was this evening and many streets were closed off.  But it’s a rite of spring.  Portland is the City of Roses and by mid-summer the International Test Rose Garden is one of the most beautiful places to visit in town.

I got home late last night from the movie and didn’t get into bed until after 2:30 a.m.  I woke up at 10:30 a.m. to sun filtering through my curtains.  My cats happily stretched out in the sun.  I stretched and went downstairs and made myself a nice hot cup of Yogi Detox tea.

I worked on some of my writing and read a little.  In the afternoon I got dressed and headed out to my friend Carolyn’s house in Dundee.  We sipped on some Prosecco while we cataloged through some background design ideas for her wine label.  I agreed to help her design something.  After we found some good background ideas, we left her house and headed over to the Ponzi Wine Bar for their 10th Anniversary Celebration.  Our Director of Consumer Sales’ husband’s band, Rio Con Brio, was playing.  The weather was nice, it was good to see colleagues in the Oregon wine industry, it was a pleasant evening.

I went into the Dundee Bistro and ordered the Carlton Farms pork three ways for dinner to go.  We returned to Carolyn’s and worked on her label.  We played with her kids some more.  They are so cute!  We ate dinner then got back to work.  We came up with a really great label.  I was so happy that she wanted my help.  And I really hope she loves what we came up with.  The wine is really amazing.  I think it’s very romantic that her husband made and bottled her several cases of Chardonnay for her 35th birthday.

After they put the kids to bed, we could see fireworks in the distance that followed the Rose Festival Parade.

I left their home at around 9:45 p.m.  Driving home, I couldn’t believe gas was now around $4.10 a gallon.  Insane.

I made some gourmet red and blue kernal popping corn in my popcorn popper and then sprinkled on some smoked jalapino lime smoked salt.  I made a cup of Yogi Bedtime tea and relaxed, watching the end of the movie, The Rookie, and then Saturday Night Live.

I laughed reading my email, as my sister responded to the L.J.S.W. fund I posted on this blog.  I wondered if anyone would catch it!  It started off as a joke, prompted by a friend.  We thought it was funny.  I wish my sister commented on the site.  Maybe she still will…
