The news has been blazing with updates on the disasterous wildfires spreading havoc in southern California. It’s been crazy.
I was just asked to join the Portland Culinary Alliance and was asked to be the Wine Liaison. I am going to ask my boss if we can join as a corporate member and donate some wine for the events. It’s a great group of other local food and wine professionals – restaurateurs, chefs, winemakers, farmers, writers. I am thrilled to join this group.
When I got home from work, I changed into my workout clothes and met Susan at Cook Park for a quick, brisk walk. It’s getting darker and darker, faster and faster. After walking for about twenty-five minutes, it was getting too dark to continue. A strange, low mist collected in the center of the park – it looked very Halloweeny. We jumped in our cars and headed over to Bridgeport Village to shop for our friends’ birthday presents at Sur La Table and grabbed some Asian noodles for dinner. After we ate, we scrambled over to Tutto Bene for gelato. We sampled the seasonal pumpkin. It was dang good. Then I tasted the Pannacotta flavor and nearly melted into gelato, myself. I bought the silky, rich, caramel-laced Pannacotta gelato. It was divinity in a little plastic cup.
